Councils analyze data and develop School LAND Trust Plans that allocate funds to address academic needs, while also aiming to involve parents in school-level decisions and enhance the overall educational environment. |
- Encourage parent engagement and provide meaningful input on school specific issues

- Develop a School LAND Trust Plan that outlines how funds will be used to address student
needs and improve academic achievement. This includes:
- Defining academic area(s) of focus.
- Setting specific and measurable goals
- Establishing measurement tools to assess goal achievement.
- Outlining action steps.
- Determining expenditures that support classroom instruction and student achievement.
- Receive input from local school community and make recommendations on school related
initiatives to their Local School Board and Administration. This includes:
- District and school programs
- School safety
- Safe technology use
- Digital citizenship
- Issues related to community environment for students
- Positive Behavior Plan
- Curriculum

- Fall
- Elections held to form the School Community Council.
- Conduct or schedule training for all council members
- Collect member contact information and set a meeting schedule
- Review and revise Website Requirements
- Review, edit as needed, and adopt Rules of Order and Procedure
- Refer to this guide for further guidance on your council's Rules of Order and Procedure.
- Establish timeline that allows the Council to develop a School LAND Trust plan and advise on school-specific solutions for digital citizenship, school safety, and other projects that may arise throughout the year
