Overview

The Utah State Board of Education (USBE) may have several items released for formal public comment at any given time. Below you will find information on open items for public comment, helpful resources, and information on how to report a concern. Feel free to share your input with USBE.

Members of the public are also welcome to send informal comments to their board members at any time (USBE Board Members). If you do not know the name of your board member, please go to Learn About the Candidates and Issues on the Vote.Utah.org website.

General Financial Literacy (GFL) Strands and Standards
Public Comment Process for Draft 1
 
The Utah State Board of Education (USBE) invites educators, parents, industry professionals, higher education representatives, community stakeholders, and members of the public to review and provide feedback on Draft 1 of the General Financial Literacy (GFL) Strands and Standards.
 
Your input is an important part of the standards revision process and will help ensure that Utah students receive high-quality, relevant, and rigorous financial literacy instruction.

Reviewers are encouraged to consider:
    • Alignment with Utah Code and Board Rule requirements.
    • Age and grade-level appropriateness.
    • Clarity and organization of standards.
    • Relevance to current financial literacy practices and student needs.
    • Accuracy and completeness of content.
    • Rigor and progression of learning expectations.
How to Submit Feedback
 
All comments must be submitted using the official Public Comment Form:
 
 
To facilitate efficient review of comments, please:
    1. Include proposed revisions when possible.
Comments submitted through email or other communication channels may not be included in the official review process.
 
Review and Revision Process
 
Following the close of the public comment period:
    1. All submitted comments will be reviewed by the standards writing committee and USBE staff.
    2. Feedback will be analyzed to identify recommended revisions.
    3. Revisions may be incorporated into a subsequent draft of the standards.
    4. Updated drafts may undergo additional review prior to final consideration by the Utah State Board of Education.
Submission of a comment does not guarantee that a suggested revision will be adopted; however, all feedback will be carefully considered.
