- Establish Clear Policies and Timelines for School Community Councils (SCCs):
- This includes setting a timeline for SCC elections, managing conflicts of interest,
defining program deadlines, outlining district monitoring procedures, and establishing
how SCC plans should align with district academic priorities.
- Conduct Annual Training:
- Ensure that School Board members, School Community Council members, and District Administrators
receive thorough training on their roles and responsibilities within the School LAND
Trust program.
- Actively Oversee Program Implementation and Monitor Spending:
- Regularly review how School LAND Trust funds are being used to verify that schools
are meeting program requirements and utilizing the funds effectively to support student
success.
- Receive and Evaluate Annual Final Reports:
- Final Reports are carefully reviewed to assess the implementation of the program
and how School LAND Trust funds were spent and the impact on student outcomes.
- Review and Approve School LAND Trust Plans and Council Signature Forms:
- Ensure that all submitted School LAND Trust Plans and Council Signature forms comply
with program regulations and are aligned with the district's overall academic priorities
before approving the plan.
Throughout the Year:
- Review and approve School LAND Trust Plan Amendments OR return for edits, as needed.
Fall:
- Provide training to school board members, school councils, and principals.
- Work with USBE Training Specialist to develop resources or schedule trainings.
- Determine Spring Due dates for Principals/Council to submit Final Reports and Upcoming
Plans and Notify District Administrators to update Due Dates on SLT Reporting Website.
- Set the following dates for the following items.
- Prior to March 1
- Board receives an annual report on prior year School LAND Trust Plan Implementation
- Board Training
- Board Meeting to complete the first review of Upcoming School LAND Trust Plans
Board Meeting to complete a second review of Upcoming School Plans.
Spring
- March 1 - Receive the report on the prior year's School LAND Trust Plan implementation.
- Board Meeting to review Upcoming School Plans for the first time.
- Approve Plans that include all required components and are consistent with the law
and Board academic priorities OR return plans with direction about the required edits
to be made prior to a second review.
- Communicate requested edits or approvals to the appointed District Administrator.
- Receive and review Council Signature Forms that provide feedback on Council involvement.
