District Principals

Principals play a crucial role in the School LAND Trust program as a voting School Employee Member of the School Community Council. They collaborate with other SCC members, District School Board, and District Administrators to identify critical academic needs, develop effective a School LAND Trust Plan, and strategically allocate resources to enhance classroom instruction to support student achievement. |
- Collaborate with other School Community Council members in identifying academic needs and develop an effective School LAND Trust Plan.
- Ensure that the School LAND Trust Plan aligns with the school's Teacher Student Success Plan (TSSP), academic district-wide goals and initiatives.
- Prioritize programs and resources that effectively address identified student needs when allocating School LAND Trust funds.
- Utilize data to inform planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs funded by School LAND Trust.
- Share information about the School LAND Trust program with staff, students, parents, and the school community.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of School LAND Trust funded initiatives on student outcomes.
Fall
- Hold if the District requires fall elections.
- Work with the School Community council to review and update council Rules of Order
& Procedure.
- Election procedures within the Rules of Order and Procedure will go into effect for the next election.
October 1st
- Request the final School LAND Trust funding allocation for the school from the district. If adjustments are needed for the SLT plan, have the council submit an amendment.
October 20th
- Ensure school website is updated to be consistent with School LAND Trust program requirements.
- Principal's Assurance and Council Membership forms are submitted to the School LAND Trust reporting website.
Beg of January
- The USBE School Children's Trust (SCT) team will send districts projected distribution allocations for the upcoming school year, which will then be uploaded to the SLT Reporting Website. Districts have until October 1 to reallocate these funds.
January 15
- Final Reports and Upcoming School LAND Trust Plans are available on the School LAND Trust reporting website. The Plans include the school funding amount for the coming school year. Note that amounts may change due to changes in student enrollment until October 1.
Prior to March 1st (Due date set by District)
- Final Report due to District for review.
March 1st
- The Summary of the Final Report must be submitted to the School Board and either posted
on the school website or distributed to all parents.
Prior to May 15th (Due date set by District)
- School LAND Trust Upcoming Plan and Council Signature Page due to Board and District. These items must be completed in order to receive School LAND Trust funding in July.
Spring
- Optional: Use the Final Report Template to prepare for next year's submission. This practice helps capture information while it's current and facilitates smooth transitions during administrative changes.
- Hold elections if the district requires Spring elections.
