Assistance Listing Numbers (ALN) and Federal Award Identification Numbers (FAIN)

An Assistance Listing Number (ALN), formerly called a CFDA number, identifies the federal assistance program and shows which agency and program awarded the federal funds. The Federal Award Identification Number (FAIN) is the unique code a federal agency assigns to a specific grant or cooperative agreement.
