International Guest Teachers (IGTs)
The International Guest Teacher program provides professional teachers from other countries to Utah schools. The program includes several countries that have Memorandums of Understanding with the Utah State Board of Education. IGTs are granted visa status and a Professional License.
Initial IGT Educator License
LEAs who wish to hire an International Guest Teacher (IGT) who has qualified for a J-1 will be granted a Professional Educator License in Secondary Education with a Professional level world language endorsement and an Associate level Dual Language Immersion (DLI) endorsement.
Renewing/Extending Licensing for IGTs
To extend the DLI endorsement, the educator will be required to submit the endorsement form through the SM Apply site along with all documentation to qualify for the professional endorsement.
