Facts and Questions (as of May 14, 2026)

When will the new system be available?
The contract requires a July 1, 2026 date for statewide availability.

What should we communicate to our constituents/staff?
The Utah State Board of Education (USBE) has selected a new platform to support the Professional Learning recording and registration system, Recommended Instructional Materials (RIMS), and Microcredentials (formerly MIDAS). This change will happen by July 1, 2026.

While the intent is to transfer all historic data and information from the current system into the new system, educators may wish to download their current transcript to ensure no data is lost.

Do educators need to download their transcripts?
All historic data will be migrated to the new system. We are not requiring educators to download their transcripts. Educators may download their transcripts if they are concerned about the migration.

When will educators and local education agency (LEA) users be trained?
This is to be determined between USBE and the new vendor. The new contract requires a platform help center and training materials that the vendor will develop and assist in delivering. This will be done in ongoing ways over the upcoming year. We anticipate at least some training to be available prior to July 1.

What if a course ends and I need to award credit during the migration?
Credit will need to be approved before the inactive date or after the new system is live. Those dates will be communicated as soon as they are available.

What if I have a course currently open in the system or I need to enter a new course into the system?
The course will be available for educators to register for until the inactive date.  Once the new system is up, educators will be able to continue to register for the course. You can submit new courses, for approval, until the inactive dates(s). After the new system is live, you will be able to submit courses for approval in the new system.

What if I need to register for a course in the system?
You will be able to register for courses in the MIDAS system until the inactive date(s).  Once the new system goes live, you will be able to register for courses in the new system.

What if I am working on a Microcredential in the current system?
You will have access to the current MIDAS system until the inactive date(s).  During the inactive date(s) you will not be able to upload any items into MIDAS.  Once the new system is available, you will be able to access your Microcredential submissions and review where it is in the process.
