Representing Sandy, Draper, Cottonwood Heights, and Alta
District 7 was previously represented by Dr. Molly Hart. Due to Dr. Hart's appointment as the State Superintendent of Public Instruction at the Utah State Board of Education, the District 7 seat is now vacant.
According to Utah Code 20A-1-504, the Governor will appoint an individual for the remainder of the term from three persons nominated by the state central committee of the same political party as the prior officeholder.
Dr. Hart was elected as a republican in November 2024 for a four year term beginning January 2025. Thus, the person appointed by the Governor must also be a republican and will serve on the Board through December 2028.
