School Counseling, Equity, and Prevention staff support accountability, social justice, and system practices for each student. A student-focused, data driven, systemic practice allows students to engage in an educational experience that results in the preparation and social capital necessary for college and career success and full participation in a global society.
The mission of our department is to work systemically to provide supports to increase student access and reduce barriers which prevent students from experiencing success in school. Student Advocacy Services provide resources and supports in the schools in the areas of attendance, behavior, prevention, school-based mental health, school counseling, restorative practices, and section 504. By promoting wellness for the whole child, this department contributes to the Utah State Board of Education’s vision of preparing each child to be college, career and community ready upon graduation.
