SIS 2000+ Student Lockers
Last update: 08/23/2000 jmm
The
Student Lockers application is a database that is used to create student
locker assignments. The interface allows the assignment of more than one
locker per student and more than one student per locker. A search filter
provides a quick way to locate the target lockers for assignment.
Prerequisite:
All lockers to be assigned must be pre-defined in the Locker
Editor program.
1. Open Student Lockers program
From the SIS 2000+ Main Menu, click on the Enrollment icon button.
From the Enrollment Menu click on the Student Lockers icon
button.
Fig. 1 - opening screen, read-only mode
The opening screen of the program (Fig. 1) will default to the first
"Currently Active" student record in the database of the school site that
is logged on, alphabetically by last name.

Sorting Locker Assignment List
The default sorting order is ascending alphabetic by the Type
field - the "primary" sort field. The primary sort field and the direction
of sorting may be changed as follows:

To activate a particular group, click on one of five Student Group Selection Buttons in the Student Banner in the upper right of the screen. Selecting the appropriate Group will facilitate a more organized and efficient user interaction with the program and will narrow the search time when finding a student record.
Student records will be available in groups only for the school site
that is currently logged on. Student Group Selection Buttons are only available
in the read-only mode of the host program. They are deactivated when in
the edit mode of the program.
"Currently
Active Students"
selects only those students who currently have a Student
Status of "Active". This is the
default group selected whenever the host program is first opened.
"All Students
this Year (active and inactive)"
selects active and inactive students of the current school year.
"Future
Students"
selects only those students who have a Student Status of "Future",
such as student records that are being prepared ahead of time for next
semester or next year enrollment.
"Inactive
(withdrawn) students for this year"
selects only those students with a Student Status of "Inactive"
in the current school year.
3.2 Three search methods
Once the target group has been selected using the Student Group Selection
Buttons, there are three methods available for finding a student record:
![]()
Student records are stored alphabetically by student last name. Scroll forward or backwards through the selected Group of student records using the VCR buttons at the bottom of the screen.
This command button will open the 'Find Student' screen. Using this method, a student record can be found by entering the student's identification number and clicking on the List command button within the form to initiate a search. If the ID number is not known, a search can be conducted by entering search strings for Last Name, First Name, Gender, Track, Grade, Birthdate, Social Security number, or any combination thereof.
Use the List command button to open an alphabetical list of all students in the selected Group. To open a student record, double click on the target entry or single click the entry until it is highlighted in gray and then click on the Select command button.
See
Student Banner, 'Navigational Command Buttons' for more information
on the three search methods outlined above.
| Important: When executing a search for a student using the VCR buttons, List command, or Find command, only the records from the currently selected Group will be available for the search. If the record is not found, widen the search criteria by selecting a larger, more inclusive group. |
Click on the Add command button to open the 'Assign Locker' mode (Fig. 8). A list of all available lockers will be displayed in a read-only list. Lockers that are already fully occupied (according to the Maximum Occupants constraint) will not be shown. The default list is sorted by the Type field in ascending alphabetical order. The list may be resorted in a similar manner as the locker assignments list on the main screen by changing the primary sort field and/or the sorting direction (See Step 2, Program Screen Layout, Sorting Locker Assignment List)

4.2 Filter the Locker list (optional)
The list of available lockers may be very long. By applying a select
query (temporary filter), the list may be narrowed for search purposes.
(If this is not required, continue to next Step 4.3.)
Fig. 9 - sample filter criteria
Click on the Refresh List command button to apply the current filter. The list of available lockers will now display only those lockers that satisfy all filter criteria. The example in Fig. 10 is a filtered list for the criteria entered in the example of Fig. 9.
Fig. 10 - sample filtered list
Some lockers in the retrieved list may already have students assigned to them but are still available for more occupants to share. To check the existing occupants of a locker, click on the entry line until it is selected by a small black pointer on the left (Fig. 10). Then click on the Occupants command button to view a list of current occupants (Fig. 11). If a selected locker has no occupants, the Occupants command button will be disabled.
Fig. 11
4.4 Assign
From the retrieved list, select the target locker to assign to the current student and click on the Assign command button. The assigned locker will be immediately removed from the list. Repeat this action to assign other lockers from the list, if required.
4.5 Return to main screen and view assignments
Click on the Done command button to exit the 'Assign Locker'
mode and return to the main screen. The current student's record will now
show the updated locker assignments.
From the locker assignment list on the main screen of the target student's record, select a locker to delete. Click on the Delete command button to remove the locker assignment from the list. In the dialog that appears (Fig. 12) answer "Yes" to confirm the deletion or "No" to abort.
