2.2 Viewing Rules
In the opening screen of the Group Editor (Fig. 3), the user will be
presented with a list of the groups that are currently defined, organized
by level and type (student, staff, course). This list will be tailored
to the type of user (district system administrator, school system administrator,
faculty member) and their security privileges (see a discussion of security
in Sec. 1). For example, a faculty member (who is not district or school
system administrator) should only see the faculty level groups that they
defined.
For the purposes of this documentation, the scenario of full access to
all groups (from the point of view of a district system administrator)
will be used.
2.2 Screen Layout

Owner Type: -
a drop-down field for selecting which owner types will be displayed
in the Selected Groups list below. Default is "All" owner types.

Group Type: -
a drop-down field for selecting which group types will be displayed
in the Selected Groups list below. Default is "All" group types.

Selected Groups:
the list of groups selected according to the parameters set in the
Owner Type and Group Type fields above. The list is sorted in ascending
alphabetical order by the Owner field, then in ascending alphanumerical
order by the Identifier field.

Owner -
specifies the owner type of the group.

Identifier -
specifies the identity of the owner using a school ID number or faculty
ID number.

Type -
specifies the type of group, such as Student, Faculty or Course.

Group Code -
user-defined alphanumeric code.

Group description -
the user defined name for the group.

Method -
the method of collecting data for the group: "Manual" is a specific
collection. "Dynamic" is a collection based on an SQL Query and is "time
dependant."
2.3 Select Groups to view
The Selected Groups list can be filtered to view only certain kinds
of groups by selecting parameters in either of the "*Type" drop-down
fields, as follows:

Owner Type
The owner type of a group is the type of user that this group
has been assigned to in terms of permissions and authoring: District, School,
or Faculty. Select an Owner Type to view or select "All" owner types (default).

Group Type
There are three types of groups, named according to the type of data
they contain: Student, Faculty, or Course. Select a Group Type to view
or select "All" types (default).

Combination
Select a combination of parameters from the Owner Type and Group Type
fields to narrow down the Selected Groups list even further (Fig. 8)

2.4 Show List
If a group has been properly defined, the collection of "Members" (entities,
records) contained in the group can be viewed as follows:
2.4.1 From the Selected Groups list, select
(highlight) a group to viewed (Fig. 9).

2.4.2 Click on the Show List command
button to view the collection of Members of the selected group (Fig. 10).

2.4.2 Exit View
Click on the Close command button to exit the view and return to the
main screen.
