2, Add a Program
2.1 Initiate
Click on the Add command button to open a blank record in the
edit mode. The focus will default to the 'General' information screen.
2.2 Define 'General' attributes of the new special program
Use the Tab key to move from field to field. Enter data as follows:

Program Code -
Enter an alpha or numeric identifier code.

Description -
Title of the program.

Funding Source -
Select funding source from available choices in drop-down list.

Conflict Identifier -
A user-defined number assigned to programs that are mutually exclusive,
i.e., programs that a student cannot be enrolled in simultaneously (for
reasons of funding). This identifier will be used by the Student Program
History application to check for conflicts in a student's curriculum.

Exit student from program upon withdrawal -
When this field is checked, the system exits the student from this
program in the event the student transfers to another school. If not checked,
the special program will be continued in the destination school.

Transfer program with student upon exit from school -
Check this field to authorize all data from this special program to
be transferred to another school if the student is transferred.

IEP Required -
Check this field if Individualized Education Plan is required for this
special program.

Special Education -
Check this field if this program qualifies as a federally funded 'Special
Education program. When this field is checked, the 'Timeline' information
screen will be activated. Caution: If Timeline data has been defined
(See Sec. 5) and this box is subsequently unchecked, a warning message
will occur to remind the user that this action will destroy any Timeline
data previously created (Fig. 6).

SPEEDE/EXPRESS -
Check this box if the program has a Speede/Express code.

Hide program availability -
Check this field to hide this special program from user selection in
Student Program History application, such as in a cases where the program
is not yet offered by the district and thus cannot be attended. This function
is the same as the "SN Hide" feature of the Table
Editor.

Attendance Category -
Select a category from drop-down list. Categories are defined in the
Table Editor according to district policy.
2.3 Save record
Click on Save command button to post the new record, or Undo
to abort. Continue to define the other attributes of the program by following
the procedures in the next three sections: Sec. 3, "Define 'Custom' Fields",
Sec. 4, "Define Eligibility", and Sec. 5, "Define a 'Timeline'".
