3, Enter a Student in a Special Program
3.1 Find a student
(see Sec. 1 , Step 3.1 for the Find procedure)
3.2 View Recommendations
Before a student is placed in a special program, the student is usually
recommended for that program by concerned teacher, parent/guardian, physician,
etc. To view a list of the selected student's recommendations:
-
Click on the Edit button at the bottom of the main Student Program
History screen to activate the edit mode.
-
Click on the 'Recommendations' tab to view the list of recommendations.
Although Student Program History itself does not enroll students in programs
defined as Special Education, the Recommendations screen will show all
special program referrals for the student, including Special Education
programs.
-
Click on Done to go back to the main screen. See
Sec. 2, Step 2.4 for further details on viewing recommendations.
Note:
The edit mode for viewing sub-screens can only be accessed
if the student has been placed in at least one special program. If there
are no special programs listed, the edit mode cannot be activated. In this
case the student's recommendations can only be viewed in the Special
Program Recommendations program.
3.3 Select a Special Program to add
Click on the Add button at the bottom of the main Student Program
History screen. The Select Program dialog box will appear (Fig. 14). Use
the field button to drop down
a list of available special programs. Select a program for enrollment (Fig.
15), then click on OK, or Cancel to abort.

Remember:
Special programs that have been defined as Special Education
will not appear as selections in this list. These types of programs are
tracked exclusively in the Special
Education History application.

to the 'General' tab in the edit mode, with the name of the new program
displayed at the top (Fig. 16). Use the Tab key or mouse to move from field
to field. Enter the appropriate data in each of the tabs, as follows:

3.6 Save data
Click on Save, or Undo to clear all changes since the
last save.
Conflict Errors:
Two special programs with the same conflict identifier (defined in
Special Programs Editor) cannot have overlapping date ranges, that is,
a student cannot be enrolled in both programs concurrently on any given
day. The date range of the enrollment period is determined by the Entry
Date and Exit Date fields. If there are any overlapping days
between conflicting programs an error message will occur (Fig. 19), preventing
the second program to be added and saved.

3.7 Exit edit mode
Click on Done to exit the edit mode and go back to the main
Student Program History screen. The student will now be enrolled in the
program and a new entry will appear in the summary list.
