4, Schedule a Course / Edit a Schedule Record
In this procedure courses requests will be scheduled in the schedule
grid. When a course section is successfully scheduled, a "schedule record"
is created in the database. Some attributes of saved schedule records can
be edited.
4.1 Select a course request to be scheduled
In the Course Requests list of the Student Schedule Editor screen click
on an unscheduled course request until it is highlighted in yellow (Fig.
25).

4.2 Initiate scheduling of the course request
4.2.2 Select Entry Date/Entry Code
In the dialog box that appears (Fig. 26), enter the Entry Date
(the date of the first day the student will attend the course) and the
Entry Code (reason for starting the course).

Entry Date -
The first time this dialog box is opened the Entry Date
date field will default to the "display date" on the main screen in the
Show Schedule as of field. In subsequent usage the Entry Date
will default to the date that was used in the previous scheduling action.
There are four methods for entering the proper date in the field:

4.3.2 Click on the Save button at the bottom of the 'Schedule Courses' screen. As the course is scheduled successfully the font will turn to gray (Fig. 30).

4.5 Continue, Save, or Quit without saving
Repeat the above steps for subsequent course requests to be scheduled,
or reverse the process using the unschedule procedure (see
Sec. 5). All scheduling is temporarily held in memory until the Save
command is executed. When the schedule is finalized, click on the Save
command button to post the schedule to the database, or click on the Quit
command button to exit without saving.
4.6 Edit a schedule record
Only the Teaching Assistant flag and the Entry Code of a saved schedule
record can be edited. The other attributes are read-only for reference
purposes.
4.6.1 Select schedule record to edit
Schedule records are represented by course ID numbers and descriptions displayed in cells in the schedule grid, positioned according to period, cycle day, and term. Move the focus to the target cell to edit.
4.6.2 Activate edit mode
Right-click the target cell or click on the Edit command button to open the edit screen of the target schedule record (Fig. 31a)

4.6.4 Save changes
- Entry Date -
A read-only field. First day student will attend course section.- Entry Code -
Select a code from the drop-down list:
- Computer Loaded -
This place holder code will be displayed if the selected schedule record was scheduled via the Student Loader operation.- Computer Walk-In -
This place holder code will be displayed if the selected schedule record was scheduled via the Walk-In Scheduler operation.- Manually Scheduled -
This is code will be displayed if the selected schedule record was manually scheduled via the Student Schedule Editor operation or this code can be entered in place of 'Pre-Scheduled' in order to unlock a record. When manually scheduled, this schedule record can be deleted or moved by the automatic scheduling functions of the Student Loader or Walk-In Scheduler.- Pre-Scheduled -
This code will be displayed for records that have been locked by the Student Loader or Walk-In Scheduler operations or this code can be entered in place of any other code in order to "lock" the record. Locked schedule records cannot be altered by subsequent Student Loader or Walk-In Scheduler operations.- Exit Date -
A read-only field. This date is the last day the student attended the class or the last day of the last term of the class; which ever comes first.- Exit Code -
A read-only field. The reason for exiting the class. This will be <unset> if the student has not yet completed the course.- Is TA -
Teaching Assistant flag can be set to On or Off. When a student is enrolled in the course section as a teaching assistant, a (TA) flag will appear after the course ID number in the schedule grid.- Last Changed by -
A read-only field. Displays the ID of the user that made the last changes to this record.- On -
A read-only field. Displays the date that the last changes were made to this record.
Click on the Save command button to save the changes, or Quit to exit the edit mode with the option of discarding changes.
