SIS 2000+ Master Schedule Editor
Sec. 6, Scheduling Concurrent
Sections/Segments
The Master Schedule Editor allows combined classes in the same meeting time, such as Spanish I and Spanish II. To accomplish this, those courses need to be dragged and dropped "on top" of each other in the same cell or key entered into the same period/cycle day.
There are two reasons for scheduling concurrent sections:
A cell containing more than one section will be displayed in red font. A cell can only display one course ID number at a time, usually the latest one entered. However, the entire list of concurrent sections scheduled in a cell can be viewed as a drop-down list by highlighting the cell and then clicking its field button (Fig. 26), or by highlighting the cell and using the DOWN or UP arrow keys to scroll through the concurrent sections. One teacher may be teaching more than one course section in a single period on the same day. Course sections may change from term to term within the same time slot. In the latter case, if the Master Schedule Editor parameters have been set to view more than term, such as "Both Semesters", then concurrent sections will be showing in the same cell.

As each section in the list is selected, all the essential course/section/segment
data will be displayed simultaneously in the information field in the upper
right corner of the screen.
6.1 DRAG-and-DROP CONCURRENT SECTIONS/SEGMENTS
Use the same drag-and-drop methods outlined in previous sections to
schedule sections or segments. Simply drop the course "on top" of an occupied
cell in the schedule grid. The program will react in exactly the same way
as if the meeting time had no previous schedule records. See Sections 3-5.
6.2 KEY ENTRY of CONCURRENT SECTIONS
This procedure is the same as Key Entry Scheduling covered in Section
3, Step 3.2. Remember that you will be manually scheduling a new section
in a meeting time that is already occupied by other sections. However,
segments cannot be scheduled using this method.
6.2.2 Click on the Add button at the bottom of the Master Schedule Editor screen (or ALT+A on the keyboard).
6.2.3 The 'Add New Sections' screen will appear. Enter all data for the section to be scheduled, being sure to enter into the correct teacher, period, and cycle day.
6.2.4 Save a record
When all data for a new section is complete and the cursor is in the
last field (Period), press the Enter key to post the data and move
on to another blank record. The data can also be posted by clicking on
the Add button.
6.2.5 Exit
Click on the Done command button to exit the 'Add New Sections'
with the option of saving or discarding the current record.
See Section 3, Step 3.2. for illustrations on Key Entry Scheduling.
