SIS 2000+ Master Schedule Editor
Last Update: 09/02/2000 jmm
Sec.1, Introduction
A
Master Schedule must be entered into the SIS 2000+ system before students
can be be scheduled by the Student Loader program or the Student Schedule
Editor program. The Master Schedule Editor program provides a grid type
interface of faculty vs. period and period vs. cycle per
single faculty member for creating the Master Schedule. Using this program,
a pre-built schedule can be manually entered into the SIS 2000+ database
by placing classes (course sections) into their assigned periods based
on students' course requests. Unlike previous versions of SIS 2000+, this
program allows the scheduling of cycle
days.
Screen layout
There are three information screens in the Master Schedule Editor. They
can be accessed by clicking on their titled tabs:
-
'Show by Faculty' screen
All scheduling is done in this view (Fig. 1), one faculty member at
a time. The name of the faculty member being scheduled is
indicated in the upper left corner of the screen. The term to view
can be selected in the Term field. The Track is selected
using the List command button or the VCR buttons at the bottom of
the screen.
The rows in the grid are periods of the day. The columns are cycle days
of the week (as defined in the Track
Editor program) such as, "CD 1", "CD 2" or "Monday", "Tuesday", "Wednesday",
etc. If there are no cycles in the target school, only one column
will be displayed. On the far right is a list of all Available Courses
to be taught for the selected term. Courses that have been scheduled are
identified by their course ID numbers and descriptions in the cells of
the grid, which correspond to a time slot, i.e., the intersection of a
period and a cycle day. For easier viewing, the column widths may be adjusted
using the mouse.

-
'Show by Cycle' screen
This view displays the results of the scheduling done in the
'Show by Faculty' screen, but in a different format. The table shown
here is composed of an alphabetical list of faculty members displayed on
the left, with the periods appearing as columns to the right. For easier
viewing, the column widths may be adjusted using the mouse. All course
sections (classes) scheduled will be displayed for each teacher, per period.
Each cycle day can be viewed as a separate table by selecting the
desired day from Cycle field in the upper right hand corner of the
screen.

'Show by Course' screen
This view also displays the results of the scheduling
done in the 'Show by Faculty' screen, one course at a time. Select
a Track and Term to view, then select a Course to
view. All scheduled sections of the course will be displayed in the cells
of the grid which represent a period and cycle day. For easier viewing,
the column widths may be adjusted using the mouse.
Fig. 3
In all views, red font indicates that there
are concurrent course sections in the cell, either because one teacher
is teaching two or more courses in the same period or because the parameters
are set to view more than one term simultaneously. The list of concurrent
section ID numbers can be viewed by activating a drop-down list in the
target cell.
