Step 2, Define Timeline

Make sure the three tables have been set up in the Table Editor (Step 1) before continuing with the following steps. The table setup is absolutely necessary before Mark Reporting applications can be used. In the Steps 2-6 that follow, there are five more setup procedures that need to be completed. They are used to define the Timeline, define the Mark Definitions, assign Mark Definitions to tracks, define what the values of the Mark Sets will be, and define what comments will be used on the Report Cards.

Timeline is the first of the Mark Reporting setup applications that needs to be completed. When going through this application keep the "Virtual Timeline" in mind (Fig. 11), as described in the Introduction, but follow your own Timeline created on paper (Timeline Worksheet) to create the actual Mark Reporting Timeline for your school.

2.3 Add Timeline Points

2.4 View and Save the Timeline
After saving a Timeline Point, the view will revert to the Timeline. The points defined will appear listed in the order they were defined (Fig.15). The example below follows the pattern of the "Virtual Timeline" used as a model (Fig. 11). Remember that these points can be given any names but it is recommended, for simplicity, to keep the names similar to the Track Term names.

2.5 Edit a Point
The Description of a point may be edited. (A point's sequence number cannot be edited using this procedure. To change a sequence number, see Step 2.7, Reorder the Timeline. 2.6 Delete A Point
A Timeline point may be deleted, but only if that record is not referenced by another application. 2.7 Reorder the Timeline

mover bar

The sequence of the Timeline points is indicated by the Sequence numbers in the left column of the list, such as, "001", "002", "003", etc. The sequence can be changed by moving entries to different positions on the list via the mover bar.
