SIS 2000+ Mark Reporting
Step
5, Associate Courses w/ Mark Definitions
Now
that Mark Definitions have been associated with tracks, courses that will
be assigned grades in the Master Schedule need to be associated with Mark
Definitions. This is done from the Scheduling Menu using the Master Schedule
Editor application.
Prerequisites:
Close out of the Track Marks application. From the SIS 2000+ Main Menu
go to the Scheduling Menu.
5.1 Open Master Schedule Editor
From the Scheduling Menu, click on the Master Schedule icon button
to open the Master Schedule Editor application (Fig. 55).

5.2 Select a Course
Scheduled courses are displayed as Course ID numbers in the Master
Schedule grid. There are three tabs (information screens) which present
the schedule grid in three different views: 'Show by Faculty', 'Show by
Cycle', and 'Show by Course'. A course can be located in any of the three
views. The following procedure will focus on the default Show by Faculty
view.
To locate the target courses for associating Mark Definitions, the target Track, Term, and Faculty must be selected first. Mark definitions are then assigned to each target course, one at a time, in the edit mode of the schedule grid.

5.2.2 Select a Term
Select a term in the Term field using the drop-down list (Fig.
57).

5.2.3 Select a Faculty
In the 'Show by Faculty' tab, courses are grouped by teacher. Select
a teacher in the Faculty field using the drop-down list (Fig. 58).

5.2.4 Select a Course to edit
Select a course by clicking its Course ID number in the schedule grid
until it is highlighted in gray (Fig. 59). Course information will be displayed
for verification in the information field directly above the grid.

With the target course to be edited selected in the grid, click on the Edit command button to open the Edit Master Schedule - 'Section Information/Segment Information' screen (Fig. 60)
5.4.2 Enter data
Enter a check in the Assign Grades? field. This tells the system
that Marks will be taken for this class.
Associate a course to a Mark Definition by selecting the appropriate Definition from the drop-down list in the Mark Definition field. Each course may only be associated with one Mark Definition. Each course in the Master Schedule that needs to have Marks collected and processed must go through this process. If there is a problem with a Mark Definition not showing as a choice, go back into the Track Marks application and check to make sure that the Mark Definition was assigned to the proper track (Step 4).
Fig. 60
This is where the importance of making Mark Definitions relate to the Track Timeline comes into play. A course that is offered in the first Semester should be associated with a Mark Definition that includes Timeline Points that are related to the 1st Semester. That is why in the examples used, the name "Semester 1" was given to one of the Mark Definitions.
It's much easier to assign Mark Definitions that follow a logical Track Timeline, and are named similarly to the Track Terms than it is to have a more random naming system for the Mark Definitions. For the Mark Reporting Timeline followed throughout this documentation, the "Semester 2" Mark Definition would be assigned to courses offered in the 2nd Semester, and the "All Year" Mark Definition would be associated with courses that last the entire school year.
5.4.3 Save
Click on the Save command button to save the data, or Undo
to cancel. Click on the Done command button to exit the dialog and
return to the schedule grid.
5.4.4 Repeat
Repeat Steps 5.4-5.4.3 for each course that is to receive marks in
the target track.
