SIS 2000+ Food Services
Sec.
5, Administration / Food Items
Two
types of food items are processed in Cafeteria transactions -- Meal/Milk
Items, and ala Carte Items.
Meal / Milk Food Items are potentially reimbursable per the status of the consumer. Prices for Meal and Milk * items are set in Rates (how much this item is based upon different service configurations -- Student Reduced Lunch vs. Student Regular Lunch, for example), then further defined in Items (what the item is). For example, rate configurations for Lunch are set in Rates (Student Regular, Free, Reduced, Worker, Faculty, Visitor, etc.). Then, depending what is served in the cafeteria, you may have a single Meal Item named Lunch, or have several Lunch Meal Items such as Lunch Line 1 and Lunch Line 2, or Salad Bar, etc. Each of these Meal Items are set in Items as Lunch, are reimbursable meals, and reference the Lunch price set in Rates for each service configuration.
* Item Type Milk is only used if Milk is a reimbursable item and has been set up as such in Rates. Otherwise, milk should be treated as an ala Carte item. Milk may be set as a reimbursable Meal Item or as an ala Carte Item, depending upon how you wish Milk service to be reported and whether or not you participate in the Special Milk Program).
Ala Carte Food Items are food items sold in addition to Meal and Milk items. They are not reimbursable, and are priced individually. Rate Change records are available for each ala Carte item to permit mid-year pricing changes.
Ala Carte prices may be set using a District Template, Elementary,
Middle and High School Templates, or set on a school by
school basis.
