SIS 2000+ Food Services
Sec.
4e, Rates / Pre-Kindergarten Rates
Pre-Kindergarten Rates accommodates pre-schools held within a traditional school structure. Pre-K students are present in the student database and are included in enrollment figures. Pre-K students are considered to be a separate school type for food services purposes, since meal prices for Pre-K students generally follow a different pricing structure than the student prices set for the school types elementary, middle or high school. Pre-Kindergarten Rates allows for student free, reduced and full-pay status, and for eligibility application processing.
If Pre-Kindergarten students are not included in student enrollment
for your school, consider creating a separate school for pre-K students
within SIS 2000+. Pre-K students will have separate meal pricing available
and separate enrollment and eligibility reporting, with school food services
reporting totals available. If creating a separate Pre-K school is not
an option, Pre-Kindergarten students must be present as Food Services Patrons
(see Sec. 11, Patrons). Student Patrons use the
standard student meal rates as set in Rates (special pre-K pricing is not
available). Student Patrons may be assigned free, reduced or full-pay status
via the Accounts module, 'Status' tab. Patron eligibility figures are reported
separately from school eligibility figures but are also included in overall
school eligibility totals.
How Pre-Kindergarten Rates are used by the Cafeteria module:
Pre-Kindergarten students are identified within the system by the assignment of Grade = -1. When a student account is accessed by the Cafeteria module, the system looks for Grade = -1. If Grade -1 is encountered, the system then looks in Rates for pre-Kindergarten Rates. If no pre-Kindergarten Rates are present, standard student meal rates are used.
If a Pre-Kindergarten Rate is found, the system assumes you wish
to use Pre-Kindergarten Rates for all students assigned Grade -1, and will
reference Pre-Kindergarten Rates for all of these students. Therefore,
if you wish to use Pre-Kindergarten Rates, rate configurations must be
present for all meal rate possibilities -- Lunch Student Free, Reduced
and Full-Pay, and Breakfast Student Free, Reduced and Full-Pay. Otherwise,
the Cafeteria Alert "Rate not Found" will display if a pre-K student is
served and that meal rate configuration is not present.
