Sec. 4b, Rates / School Rate
Exceptions
School Exceptions may be set for schools using Meal, Milk,
or Reimbursement Rates that are exceptions to District Rates
(see District Rates, Sec. 4a). These exceptions are set on a school by
school basis, and may be set when completing District Rates.
4b.1 Run the School Rates Editor
The District Rates must be in place before School Rate Exceptions may
be made. In Fig. 1, the District rate has been completed for the Elementary
Student Regular Lunch rate. With the District rate in read-only mode (a
rate returns to read-only mode when Save is selected), click on
the School Rates button.

School Rates
The School Rates button runs the School Rate Exceptions Editor,
which displays the District rate for this meal in read-only mode
(top portion of screen), and the first (alphabetically) School assigned
this rate, also in read-only mode (bottom portion of screen). Notice that
since this is an Elementary rate, only Elementary schools have been assigned
this rate and only elementary schools are available for rate exceptions.
Default values for each school are displayed in blue.

4b.3.3 Complete a Reimbursement Rate Exception
If the Exception Rate is a Reimbursement Rate, click on the Tot Reim drop down list box to display the Reimbursement Rate Editor (Fig. 6). Select the Programs requiring the rate changes, complete the new rate, select Save and then Done.
Example -- In addition to standard Federal and State reimbursement programs, an individual school may also qualify as a Severe Need Breakfast site. In this example, the Federal and State reimbursement rates would already be present as Default District Reimbursement Rates. Simply select the Severe Needs Rate, and enter the additional reimbursement rate. Reimbursement for this school will then be calculated at the higher rate.
