If, when in the edit mode of this information screen, the Home Address fields are read-only (gray) and the Household Address button is enabled (blue) as in Fig. 79, then the Home Address is a parsed address. A parsed address is used when the Use Households preference is set to "On" in the Address Validation Table Editor application. Parsed addresses are also called "Household Addresses". A parsed address stores the component parts of an address in separate fields (even though those fields may be combined into one field for display or printing purposes in various applications). The Use Households feature will allow a single address entry to be assigned to more than one student, such as to siblings in the same district who live at the same address. Student contacts, such as parents, guardians, or caretakers, can also be assigned the same household address using the Lives With Student check box in the 'Contacts' information screen. This sharing of addresses promotes data integrity, saves storage space, and speeds up the system.
To edit this type of address, click on the Household Address command button to open the 'Address Entry' screen (Fig. 81).

Two types of address editing procedures are available, as follows:
In this procedure the address assigned to the student will simply be changed to another existing Household address. Click on the Chg Household command button to open the 'Household Search' dialog (Fig. 82). Click on the Find command button to open a list of all Household addresses in the database or enter a search string for the target address to locate, such as the first letters in the Street Name, and click on Find to initiate a search (or Clear to clear all search strings or Cancel abort).
Fig. 82
A list of candidate addresses will be displayed in a 'Household List' screen (Fig. 83) (If a "No Match" message occurs, reduce the amount of qualifiers in the search strings and try again). Select (highlight) the target address. A list of students and contacts that share the highlighted address will be listed in the lower section of the window.

If the highlighted address is the correct one, click on the Select command button to transfer the address to the 'Address Entry' screen (Fig. 84).

Click on the Save command button within the 'Address Entry' screen to post the new address to the current student, or Undo to cancel. When saved, the view will revert to the main 'Addresses' information screen, displaying the newly assigned address in the read-only mode (Fig. 85).

In order to make this new address assignment permanent, be sure to click on the Save command button at the bottom of the main screen.
In this procedure, an entirely new address can be created for the current student and saved to the database. Once it is saved, the address becomes a part of the Household addresses database and can be assigned to other students in subsequent procedures. When the New Household command button is executed a blank 'Address Entry' screen is opened in the entry mode (Fig. 16). Use the Tab key to move from field to field. Enter address data and Save the new address (See Sec. 2, "Enter a New Student / Enter a New Household Address" (paragraphs b-d) for detailed instructions on generating a new address). When saved, the view will revert to the main 'Addresses' information screen, displaying the newly created address. In order to make this new address permanent, click on the Save command button at the bottom of the main screen.
A parsed address can edited if there is only one student assigned to
that address. Click on the Change This Address command button activate
the edit mode. After making modifications, click on Save to post
the new address (or Undo to cancel). Keep in mind that the edited
address will be subject to address validation or enrollment validation,
if applicable. When there is more than one student assigned to the address
the Change This Address command button will be disabled.

Click this button to open the 'Student Bus Information' form (Fig. 87). Any data related to special bus requirements for the student is stored here. Enter or edit the data if necessary. If data has been edited, click on the Save and Return command button to save the new data, close the form and return to the 'Addresses' tab (or Cancel to discard changes). If no data was changed, use the Cancel button to exit the screen. The Bus Information button will appear dark red when there is data contained within the form. This form will be shared with in the Special Education History program. It may be edited in both places for students who are designated in Special Education.
