The Standard Drop-down Calendar

A standard drop-down calendar may be activated using three possible actions:

  1. When the focus is on the Date field, double click the field with the mouse.
  2. Move the focus to the calendar field button (), then press the down arrow on the keyboard.
  3. Move the focus to the calendar field button and click on the button with the mouse.
The activated calendar will default to Today's date (system date), which will be highlighted in yellow (Fig. 1).

Use the LEFT or RIGHT arrow keys on the keyboard to shift the focus to the left or right VCR buttons (focus is indicated by the small dotted outline). Press ENTER to execute the activated VCR button, which will cause scrolling action backward or forward to locate the target month. The single VCR buttons scroll by month; the double VCR buttons jump to the next or previous year - same month.

When the target month is located, click on the target date with the mouse. (This is one of the few instances in Rapid Entry where a mouse is required.) Shift the focus to the Select command button and press Enter (or click on the Select command button, or Cancel to abort). The calendar will automatically close and reset the date accordingly. The new date will remain in effect for all subsequent attendance entries, until it is changed via the Calendar or until the Rapid Entry program is exited and restarted. Press Enter once to move on to the next data field.

The current system date can be restored to the Date field by opening the calendar again, shifting the focus to the Today button at the bottom, and pressing ENTER. The calendar will automatically close and restore the date accordingly. Press ENTER once to move on to the next data field.
