"Mr. Adams made me a believer", said the Grand District Superintendent, "He is the kind of teacher of which movies are made – a teacher who looks at his students in terms of potential, a teacher who holds impressive expectations and provides students the scaffolding to achieve their high aspirations." Hal says that two major factors influenced him in his decision to become a teacher. First was his father and second was the influence of a high school English teacher who changed his life. "My greatest contributions in education have been in extending the classroom learning to real life opportunities", Hal says, "My teaching has rewarded me in a very special way as I have served others and tried to make a difference in shaping their lives. My own life has been refined, I have developed a love of learning, a special sense of humor, my appreciation of beauty and diversity, gratitude and caring have replaced greed and selfishness, I love life." Hal's father, Clemont, was in the classroom himself for 37 years, his father's enthusiasm and commitment was always obvious to him. His greatest compliment he says he has received is that he is just like his dad! |
