Praxis Test
Praxis II: Principles of Learning and Teaching (PLT) Tests
All Level 1 teachers (employed or reemployed after January 1, 2003) are required to complete the following:
Secondary (regular and special education)
Achieve a score of 160 or higher on the Praxis II—Principles of Learning and Teaching test in their area of educational preparation and assignment.

#0524 Grades 7-12
No special education test available.
Elementary (regular and special education)
Achieve a score of 160 or higher on Praxis II—Principles of Learning and Teaching test in their area of educational preparation and assignment.

#0521 Early Childhood
#0522 Grades K-6
No special education test available.
Highly Qualified
The following test information refers to “meeting” federal guidelines for highly qualified.
Praxis II: Subject Assessments and Specialty Area Tests
All Elementary Level 1 teachers (employed or reemployed after August 30, 2002) are required to complete the following:
Achieve a score of 150 or higher on Praxis II-0012 Elementary Education: Content Area Exercises OR achieve a score of 150 or above on Praxis II-0014 Elementary School: Content Knowledge.

Educational Testing Service will forward scores to the Utah State Office of Education if the test applicant indicates the code for the Utah State Office of Education (USOE) on the test form.
