GED Certificate, Exchange, Diploma Qualifications and Processes

  1. GED test-takers must obtain scores of at least 410 on each of the five subtests with an average standard score of 450.
  2. The credential - GED Certificate - was issued to test-takers passing the GED Tests prior to July 1, 2009.
  3. Test-takers, who received a GED Certificate between January 1, 2002 and June 30, 2009, may apply to a testing center or the Utah State Office of Education, GED Records to exchange the Certificate for a Utah High School Completion Diploma. GED Testing Centers are required to E-mail the State GED Testing Administrator’s assistant the exchange log once a month for input into the state system.

  4. A Utah High School Completion Diploma is the current completion document automatically issued to test-takers passing all five of the GED Tests.
