Statistics
The Statistics unit deals principally with the collection and reporting of data on two human and two organizational populations within the boundaries of the state of Utah:

Students — Persons of school age (5-17 years) who enroll in schools

Staff — Adults employed by agencies to provide educational (instructional and support) services to students in schools

Schools — Formal groups of staff and students established by agencies who interact in the production and consumption of educational services

Agencies — Legislatively established special districts which administer the work of schools within their respective jurisdictions
Our responsibilities include:

Managing twice yearly censuses of students

Auditing agencies for compliance with student accounting rules

Preparing demographic reports and submitting data files to the U.S. Department of Education

Contributing statistical analysis to discussion of educational policy issues

Consulting on quantitative methodology

Leading the USOE Data Warehouse Group

Serving as liaison to the National Center for Education Statistics and Utah State Data Center
