Who is eligible?
You are eligible to participate in Statewide Online Education Program if you are in grades 9-12 and enrolled in a Utah public school. For the 2012-2013 school year, you may enroll in up to two credits in online courses (except for early graduation - see below); you may also qualify to take more credits if your school district or charter school finds this to be in your best academic interests. You may earn no more credits in a school year than the number of credits you may earn by taking a full course load during the regular school day at your high school classroom, unless it is the policy of your school district or charter school to allow this. You may ask your school counselor if it is the policy of your district or charter school to allow students to enroll in additional credits.

How do I register?
You may register at any time during the calendar year, and may register during ordinary registration processes taking place each spring for the upcoming school year. Enrollments are currently being accepted for both Fall and Winter "semesters" of the 2012-13 school year.
You should begin by reviewing the course catalogues from the online course providers listed above. Determine which courses you are interested in taking online. In order to enroll in a Statewide Online Education Program course, you should discuss with your school counselor your interest in taking the course and how this course will fit into your Student Education and Occupation Plan (SEOP). You may fill out and print a Student and Parent Online Course Plan to prepare for your meeting with your school counselor.
If you plan to take online courses, either (a) your school counselor, or (b) an online provider can fill out a Course Credit Acknowledgement (CCA) and send it to the Utah State Office of Education (USOE). The USOE will process the CCA, and the online course provider will contact you to assist you in enrolling. Both you and your parent(s) or guardian(s) must sign the CCA for it to be valid.
Because your parent(s) or guardian(s) will be required to approve your enrollment in an online course, you should plan on having them with you when you meet when a CCA is filed.
Your school counselor may need to:
- In conjunction with you and your parent or legal guardian, prepare or amend a student education/occupation plan (SEOP).
- Assist you in scheduling courses in accordance with your SEOP, graduation requirements and post-secondary plans, and an International Baccalaureate (IB) Program if you are enrolled in one.
What if I want to graduate early?
You may be eligible to earn more credits in a semester than the number of credits you may earn by taking a full course load during the regular school day in your high school, if you intend to complete high school graduation requirements and exit high school early in accordance with your education/occupation plan (SEOP).
Is the Electronic High School still available?
EHS continues to offer open-entry/open-exit classes for Utah at no cost to Utah students or schools.
