That is the question? Do you think it is right to have someone decided who will be the parents of offspring? Is it right to participate in selective breeding?

Debate time

  • The class needs to be split into two groups.
  • One group to prove that selective breeding is good, productive and economically secure.
  • The other group will prove that selective breeding is not a healthy practice.
    • That left alone species will develop genetically to be better than the hybrid breeds.
    • They will need to prove it is not productive and economically secure.

Each group will have to do research so allow enough time to gather all their information.

Rules of the debate:
1. One person or side presenting at a time.
2. Side may not respond until recognized by the umpire or chair person.
3. May use only research from acknowledged resources.
4. All ideas must be backed up with facts.
5. Only appropriate language can be used.
6. Each side will have time for an opening and closing statement.
7. Chair person will decide the winner of the debate according to the points given on the rubric.
8. All participants must have the opportunity to participate in some way visible to the chair person.
