Create a 3-D model of DNA. The backdrop will give you an example of what a model of DNA looks like.

Use your imagination and find something that is in your house right now to make your DNA model.

Include the sides, bases and something to hold the model together.
Choose something to represent the different bases. Be sure to match the correct bases.

  • Adenine pairs with Thymine
  • Guanine pairs with Cytosine

Making the model twist will create a special challenge. Think you can beat the twist?

Suggestion of materials to use:

  • Sides - Licorice, spaghetti, yarn
  • Bases - Gumdrops, Colored marshmallows, Jelly Beans, Sour Patch Candies
  • Connections - Toothpicks, Glue, Tape
