What Is The Pattern?

What do all of these things have in common? They all contain patterns. For each picture, write down at least one pattern you see. The pattern may be a shape, a color, a geometric pattern, or a behavior. An example has been done for you.

Picture

Pattern

Honeycomb

There is a repeating six-sided shape.

Starfish

Leaf

Fish

Ram

Butterfly
Amoeba

Scientists look for patterns to help them understand nature. Once they understand the pattern, they can more accurately classify things found in nature. Sometimes the pattern may not be seen without the use of a microscope or other tool. As you observe the world around you, look for patterns ... they are always there!
