SEVENTH GRADE INTERNET RESOURCES

These links relate to the Seventh Grade Integrated Science curriculum. Sites contain resources, pictures, maps, videos, current science data, and other helpful information. Links are organized by standard and objective. Please see Sci-ber Text graphicfor additional ideas. For related science sites see General Internet Resources below.

Links are regularly updated so please review the sites then e-mail graphic comments or suggestions. Have fun and enjoy surfing!

TOPIC: Structure of Matter

STANDARD: 3200 - 01- Students will evaluate the particulate nature of matter.

OBJECTIVES:

3200-0101 - Analyze evidence about particles of matter.
  • Fermilab details information about how particle motion accelerators provide evidence that particles that make up all matter.
  • Take time to do the density lab. The materials needed are typically easy to obtain. The lab is different from most you may have done in the past.
3200-0102 - Demonstrate the role of motion in the particulate description of matter.
  • Visit The Particle Adventure provides an interactive tour of the inner workings of the atom and how scientists discover it.

STANDARD: 3200 - 02- Students will compare and contrast the structure of Earth's crust and interior.

OBJECTIVES:

3200-0201 - Construct and defend a model of Earth's crust and interior.
3200-0202 - Analyze current and past ideas about the structure of Earth.

TOPIC: Structure of Organisms

STANDARD: 3200 - 03- Students will understand structure and function of cells and organisms.

OBJECTIVES:

3200-0301 - Evaluate evidence to support cell theory.

3200-0302 - Investigate cellular structures and functions.

3200-0303 - Compare levels of organization' structures and functions within living things.

STANDARD: 3200 - 04 - Students will understand reproduction and heredity of organisms.

OBJECTIVES:

3200-0401 - Compare and contrast sexual and asexual reproduction.

3200-0402 -Recognize and explain how certain traits are passed from parents to offspring.
3200-0403 - Analyze issues related to genetics.
  • Cloning and the Law provides some of the most current information regarding cloning on the net.

TOPIC: Structure and Classification

STANDARD: 3200 - 05 - Students will create, use, and understand the applications of classification schemes.

OBJECTIVES:

3200-0501 - Classify matter based upon observable properties.
3200-0502 - Distinguish between living, dead, and non-living matter.
3200-0503 - Compare and contrast a variety of classification schemes.
3200-0504 - Classify organisms according to taxonomic levels.
