Neato Magneto

Our hero!

Do you have a favorite hero? Maybe it is Superman© or Harry Potter©? Maybe it’s time to introduce you to the ultimate real hero ...

"Magnetosphere!"

What? Never heard of her? Actually, magnetosphere is not a person but an “it.” None the less, magnetosphere is a super hero.

You see, the magnetosphere is the magnetic field that surrounds Earth. It helps to protect us by deflecting some very harmful particles that are ejected from the Sun.

This magnetic field extends thousands of miles into space and is pear-shaped.

Think about it!

  • Because the Earth is surrounded by a huge magnetic field, it acts like a giant magnet with two opposite poles.
  • Earth's magnetosphere is the largest of any planet in the solar system.
