Forcasting the Weather

As you watch the weather forecast on the local news program, you wonder how the meteorologist knows what the weather will be like tomorrow, or even for the rest of the week. This excercise is designed to help you practice observing weather. Accurate observations are useful to make weather forecasts.

For at least seven days, use the Internet, newspaper, television, radio news, or weather tools that you make yourself to complete the chart below.

Date
Precipitation
Air temperature
Wind speed
Wind direction
Air pressure

Okay - now that you collected data it is time to use it. Based on the data, write a short weather prediction for the next day or two. Share your prediction with your family or friends.
