Science Terms for you to know and use

Adaptation - to change or adjust to a new environment

Alpine - mountainous area

Amphibian - an animal that can live on land and in water

Bird - warm-blooded animal with wings and feathers

Coniferous - trees or shrubs that have cones. They are also called evergreens.

Deciduous - a type of tree that sheds it's leaves each year

Desert - a dry area. There are cold and hot deserts

Fish - coldblooded animal that live in water and have backbones, gills for breathing, and fins

Forest - a thick covering of trees and brush covering a large area of land

Grassland - large area of flat land that has a wide temperature range

Hibernation - to spend the winter in a sleep-like state

Insect - a group of small animals with no backbones having six legs

Invertibrate - animals without backbones

Mammal - animal that with a hair covering that give milk to their babies

Migration - to move to another region. Birds migrate to warmer places in the winter.

Reptile - a coldblooded, creeping, crawling animal with a backbone
Riparian environment - water found in biomes

Spider - group of small cold-blooded animals with no backbones having eight legs
