The following is a list of endorsement courses for Summer 2007. Not all information was available at the time of posting, but missing information will be posted as soon as possible. Please read the following information as some procedures have changed from previous years.
Deposit: The deposit is refundable up to two weeks prior to the beginning of the course. The deposit check is used to hold a participant's spot in the class. It will not be cashed unless the participant fails to notify the contact person for the course that they will not be attending. During the course, the check will be returned to the participant unless they are interested in using it to apply for university credit.
Registration: The registration is the fee to attend the course. Please contact your district - they may have funds to help you pay for the registration fee. The sooner you make arrangements, the better your chances of your district having funds to pay for the course. In order for the district to cover the cost of registration (if applicable), please return the registration form in to your district no later than April 15, 2007. Otherwise you may be required to cover the registration cost on your own and will need to work with your district for reimbursement.
Types of Credit A participant has three possible choices for the type of credit to be received. A participant must pick only one type of credit.
* University Credit
University credit is transferable out of state. The credit is recorded on a university transcript. A teacher must pay the recording fee which is equal to the amount of the deposit. During the course, the deposit check will be returned to the participant. At that time, the participant may choose to resubmit the deposit check as the recording fee for university credit. Classes taken for university credit will also be recorded on CACTUS beginning summer of 2006. Prior to summer 2006, university credit used for endorsements would need to be accompanied by offical univeristy transcripts.
* USOE Credit
USOE credit is not transferrable out of state. The credit is included within the cost of the course. USOE credit has always been recorded on CACTUS and therefore, transcripts are not necessary for documentation in order to apply for endorsements.
* Relicensure Points
Relicensure points are awarded one point per hour of instruction. The credit is included within the cost of the course. This is not recorded on CACTUS and the participant is awarded a certificate which they are responsible for keeping for their own records.
C.A.C.T.U.S. Numbers (Computer Aided Credentials of Teachers in Utah Schools)
Because of the issues of identity theft associated with social security numbers, there has been an effort to switch to CACTUS ID numbers. If you do not know your CACTUS ID number, you will need to log on to UEN by logging into my.uen and use the C.A.C.T.U.S. button to view your Utah Educator License information or simply log on to C.A.C.T.U.S . Keep this number handy for future use. This is how university and USOE credit is entered into C.A.C.T.U.S.
All course communication will be made thru the email address provided on your registration form. (Try to provide an out of school summer contact for much of the correspondence may occur during the summer prior to the beginning of the course.)
