UAHPERD/USOE Summer Workshop
This two day conference is designed to enhance teaching methods in physical education. It will include keynote speakers and numerous breakout sessions, many in learn-by-doing format. Nutrition education, lifetime sports and fitness activities will be included. An assignment is required for USOE credit.

Human Sexuality Law and Policy Workshops
Course Description
This required workshop is for all new or newly assigned teachers of human sexuality in health or other curriculum areas and is offered on two different dates. An overview of state law will illustrate what may and may not be taught in Utah's Human Sexuality Curriculum. Classes are limited to 40 registrants per class and the instruction and the class session is three to four hours in length.

Exercise Physiology
This practical application course explores the functioning and adaptation of the body to the stress of various levels of exercise and the utilization of nutrients in producing energy at rest, during activity and in the recovery period. Exercises will be evaluated according to energy yielding pathways producing either aerobic or anaerobic outcomes. 100% attendance and a project are required for USOE credit.

Methods of Teaching Human Sexuality
In this course students will explore the methods of teaching human sexuality in secondary schools in accordance with Utah Law and Policy and Core Curriculum Standards. Course content will include human reproduction, dating relationships, contraception, and the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases/infections, including HIV/AIDS. Protective factors will be illustrated with emphasis on abstinence, and communication and refusal skills. 100% attendance and a project are required for USOE credit.
