On-line Writing Programs

We are proceeding to move the online writing program to a district-centered model so districts or charter schools may select from a list of approved programs one that fits their needs and make application for funds to support their selection.  To assist in the selection of a program, Granite School District will host a demonstration of three or four on-line writing programs on May 23rd, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at 2500 South State Street in Salt Lake City.  It is not necessary to attend this day to apply for funding.

The meeting will be in room D-202 in the Educational Programs Building. Park in the Northwest parking lot by the 5-story building (closest to Main Street). Enter through the automatic doors and take the first right to the elevator or stairs. Go to the second floor, turn right and follow the signs to D-202. It is just down the hall from Curriculum. If teachers need a map they may go to [ Map ].

Applications for on-line writing program funding will also be available at the demonstrations on May 23rd  The application form has been revised from the draft handed out at the State Literacy Meeting held on April 27th.

Please reply to this email by May 16th if you plan on attending the demonstrations and tell us the number from your district/school that will be there.

If there is an on-line writing program you have used and have found to be successful, please reply to lois.richins@schools.utah.gov immediately so we can consider it.
