Technological Horizons in Education published an article about the Distance Learning Endorsement program at Utah State University. As the viability of using distance learning (DL) to reach students increases for school districts, there is a need for sound methodology on how to teach using the medium. How can instructors transition from relating to a warm body to relating to the camera? Are there established certification standards for instructors to teach over the information highway? What skills do instructors need to effectively teach using remote learning technologies?

Download the Distance Learning Endorsement Form from the USOE office of Certification. Be sure to print off this document and mail to George with the necessary accompanying documentation. If you wish to have a new teaching license printed up, be sure to include a check for $10.00 made payable to the Utah State Office of Education. Mail your materials to:

Before you start any course work towards the Distance Learning Endorsement, you will want to obtain the copy of the form you will fill out when classwork and all other activities are done. This form should be submitted to USOE (Send to George Miller--the address is listed on the form) and it will be processed. The Distance Learning Endorsement, like all other endorsements you have, will show up on the CACTUS Database system atthe Utah State Office of Education. You may wish to obtain a new teaching license showing the new endorsement. There is a $15 charge and it is optional. The pdf form is a two-page document.....

Westminster College Summer 2003 Distance Learning Endorsement Program
http://people.westminstercollege.edu/faculty/dstokes/DLE/ Westminster College is announcing their second annual Distance Learning Endorsement during the summer of 2003. A six-week intensive program, part of the Master's Degree in Instructional Technology will be offered during June and July of 2003. The EDNET Faculty Training Workshop will be part of this exciting hands-on approach to one of educations most versatile of tools--Distance Learning. Successful completors of the program not only earn the USOE endorsement for distance learning, but the EDNET Faculty Training Certificate, allowing them to teach over Utah's EDNET system.
