Vision for Education in the Fine Arts

We believe that . . .

  1. A Fine Arts Education provides Personal Insight, Wisdom, and *Life Skills.

  2. Every student needs a balanced education in which quality instruction and experiences in the arts are provided, encouraged and fully supported.

  3. Fine Arts Skills and understanding are achieved over time through daily physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual engagement in the artform.

Therefore, our mission, goals, and strategies are . . .

Mission:
Strengthen leadership and artistic excellence in dance, music, theatre, and visual arts for all K-12 students and their teachers.

Goal:
All Students and Teachers of the Fine Arts are:

  1. Increasing their Ability to communicate and receive understanding and meaning through experiences in dance, music, theatre, and visual art

  2. Acquiring *Life Skills and experiencing the joy of the Learning Journey

  3. Becoming able Proponents for the beneficial personal and societal outcomes of a Fine Arts Education

  4. Growing healthy, balanced arts education Programs in their school

Strategies:
Educators, Parents, Arts Professionals, and Community Leaders strive to

  1. Nurture high student motivation to learn.

  2. Build Excellence in instruction and leadership.

  3. Utilize the guidance of competency standards in the Fine Arts Core Curricula.

  4. Generate a culture of progress through: inclusion, communication, teamwork, continuous self-examination, enthusiasm, vision, leadership, and positive action.

    To guide, support, coordinate, and strengthen the continuous improvement of student motivation, development, and achievement in the arts

  • Professional Development in the Arts: professional arts events, workshops, seminars, conferences, classroom implementation, reflective evaluation, collegial collaboration
    To build excellence in instruction

  • Professional Outreach Program in the Schools (POPS)
    To provide experiences with professional artists, performances and exhibits

  • RAM, Teacher Resources, Textbook Evaluations, Instructional Materials
    To provide teaching and learning resources

  • Networking Forums, Partnerships, Conferences, Home Page
    To build leadership, provide access to information, collaborate, and build community
