ELL Proficiency Standards

English Language Learner Proficiency Standards—Utah’s English Language Proficiency Standards provide support for English language learners by offering guidance in the following ways: (1) Define the academic English proficiency, by grade band, for students to access the Utah Core Curricula objectives; (2) Establish criteria for Utah’s Academic English Language Proficiency Assessment (UALPA). The English Language Proficiency Standards articulate the English language skills necessary for the 52,000 English language learners in our state to achieve academic success.
