Family & Consumer Sciences Composite (CTE/General)

Minimum Endorsement Requirements
- Existing Middle or Secondary Education License, and
- Transcripts showing forty-six to forty-nine (46-49) semester credits completed from the required course list. See below.
Minimum SAEP Requirements
- Existing Middle or Secondary Education License, and
- An assignment that requires the requested endorsement, and
- Transcripts showing a minimum of nine (9) semester hours of completed course work related to the requested endorsement, and
- A plan submitted to and approved by the state specialist outlining all requirements and when/where they will be (or have been) fulfilled.
Required Courses
- Human Development Across the Lifespan - 3 credits
- Marriage, Family Relationships and Parenting - 3 credits
- Early Childhood Learning Experiences Practice - 4-6 credits
- The Consumer and the Market
Family Resource Management or
Family Finance or Personal Finance - 6 credits
- Intermediate Nutrition or Nutrition through the Life Cycle - 3 credits
- Food Preparation and Meal Management or Culinary Basics - 3 credits
- Food Science Level I and II with Lab - 4 credits
- Introduction to Housing and Interior Design - 3 credits
- Textiles - 3 credits
- Residential Technology or Housing: Societal/Environmental Issues - 3 credits
- Intermediate Clothing Construction and Alterations - 3 credits
- Flat Pattern Design and Advanced Clothing Construction - 3 credits
- Clothing Selection and Psychology of Clothing - 2-3 credits
- Teaching Methods for Family and Consumer Sciences - 3 credits

- Advanced Interior Design
- Life Management
- ProStart I and II
- Sports Sewing
- Teen Living
- Young Parents/ Grads
Complete the following to apply for a Family & Consumer Sciences Education Endorsement or SAEP:
- Select the endorsement needed and download the application form.
- Fill out the form, including university/college course numbers, to indicate that minimum requirements in each area have been met.
- Indicate whether you are applying for an endorsement or a SAEP.
- Attach a copy of your transcripts and highlight corresponding classes.
- Attach a copy of any applicable professional certifications.
- Send the highlighted transcripts, professional certifications, and completed form, along with the appropriate processing fee to:
