CAREER & TECHNICAL STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS

Student Leadership Organizations were established with the commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of young people. In addition to offering a wide variety of specific career and technical training, CTE integrates student leadership elements, which complements student participation in these courses and programs. The term ”Career and Technical Student Organizations” (CTSOs) means an organization for individuals enrolled in a career and technical education program that engages in leadership activities as an integral part of the instructional program.

CTSOs are not after-school clubs where only a few career and technical education students belong. They are a powerful instructional tool integrated into the career and technical curriculum and classroom. CTSOs present organized activities for students to gain personal and leadership skills making them more employable, preparing them to become productive citizens, and assisting them in assuming positive roles in the home and community.
