ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURES
This one semester course provides students with an understanding of communication skills; management of time, finances, resources, and records; current and upcoming technology and its impact on the business office; human relations and how to be professional in today’s office; and job seeking skills. The dynamics of current and future office technology will be emphasized throughout the course.

Communication: Students will demonstrate effective reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills while performing business assignments and responsibilities.

DOCUMENT PROCESSING
This unit focuses on reading and preparing written communications at work. Many business communications are in written form, and their preparation is a time-consuming task that requires many competent employees. The ability to read and understand written documents is a basic yet vital skill for all types of office workers. In this unit you will become acquainted with the procedures to prepare effective business letters, memos, reports, and related documents.
MEETING MANAGEMENT
This lesson is effective for students to review how to prepare, arrange and create the documents for a meeting. Meeting minutes, agendas, itineraries, etc. are addressed. |
STANDARD 2
Management: Students will learn resource management skills, including information, time, tasks and records.
STANDARD 3
Business Machine and Computer Technology: The student will demonstrate the use of
common business machines and computer systems in today’s office environment.

This lesson addressed proper telephone etiquette and procedures. Assignments and instruction is interactive and students have several experiences to share. |

These activities address the importance of a positive attitude in life and on the job.
GROUPS & TEAMS
This lesson is a simulation of a murder mystery that teaches group communication, leadership, and problem solving skills. As teams of six students race to solve the crime, observers watch for the roles of emergent leaders and how they pool information from all group members to arrive at a correct decision. |
