Business Composite
Endorsement/SAEP Application - PDF

Minimum Endorsement RequirementsBusiness Education Logo

  • Bachelor's degree, and
  • Existing Secondary Education License, and
  • Transcripts showing sixty-three (63) semester credits completed from the required course list. See below.

Minimum SAEP Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, and
  • Existing Secondary Education License, and
  • An assignment that requires the requested endorsement, and
  • Transcripts showing a minimum of thirty-two (32) hours of completed course work related to the requested endorsement, and
  • A plan submitted to and approved by the state specialist outlining all requirements and when/where they will be (or have been) fulfilled.

Required Courses - Business Core

  • Accounting - 3 credits
  • Business Law - 3 credits
  • Business Writing - 3 credits
  • Finance - 3 credits
  • Microeconomics - 3 credits
  • Macroeconomics - 3 credits
  • Management - 3 credits
  • Marketing - 3 credits

Required Courses - Business Information Technology

  • Computer Information Literacy (CIL) class or exam - 3 credits
  • Keyboarding Class or Exam – 35 wpm - 1 credit
  • Word Processing - beyond CIL - 1 credit
  • Spreadsheets - beyond CIL - 1 credit
  • Database - beyond CIL - 1 credit
  • Multimedia/Graphics Applications - 3 credits
  • Web Page Design - 3 credits

Elective Courses - Business Information Technology

  • Information Technology
  • PC Hardware and Software
  • Operating Systems Windows Applications
  • Network Administration/LAN Management
  • Other courses may qualify, but require pre-approval by the USOE business education specialist

Required Courses - Pedagogy

  • Instruction, Technology, Assessment and Planning - 3 credits
    (SLCC EDU 2800)
  • Child/Adolescent Development/Classroom Management - 3 credits
    (SLCC EDCU 2820)
  • Introduction to Special Education - 3 credits
    (SLCC EDU 2600)
  • Foundations of Learning & Teaching Diverse Populations - 3 credits
    (SLCC EDU 2600)
  • Special Topics in Education: Literacy Strategies - 3 credits
    (SLCC EDU 2840)
  • Business Education Methods Course

The Business Composite Endorsement allows an educator to teach the following courses:
