Educational Technology
Practicing K-12 teachers are increasingly expected to exhibit technology skills, as well as content pedagogical knowledge on how to effectively use technology to enhance student learning. The new educational technology core also requires that students create multimedia presentations, conduct research using technology, use technology resources for solving problems and making informed decisions, as well as learning the social, ethical and human issues related to technology. The endorsement strengthens educators’ technology integration skills as well as creating technology enhanced learning environments for their students.
An elementary teacher whose assignment is as the school's technology teacher instead of teaching a regular class should have a Educational Technology or a Computer Science Endorsement.
* The Utah Education Network (UEN) offers a number of free Technology Pedagogy and Enhanced Software/Hardware Skills courses for Utah teachers.
