When you click on the License Area/Endorsement Search button or License Area/Endorsement Search from the File & Open menu you will see a grid that looks like this (plus columns for Cactus person id and social security number).

When this grid first appears there are no values in the cells. Enter your search criteria as follows:
At the bottom of the window, note that the Endorsement radio button is selected. This search will only show you educators who are currently assigned to a school or USOE and hold the endorsement criteria you enter.
District: If you are a district user, you will be limited to your own district. USOE users may select one or more districts. Select the first district in the first row by clicking on the arrow to open the district drop-down list. To select a second district, move down to the second row and follow the same procedure as for row 1. To select all districts, leave this column empty.
School: Once you have select a district in the first column, click on the arrow in the school column to get the drop-down list of schools for that district. To see all the schools in a district, leave this cell blank, but remember to limit your search to a maximum result of 500 educators.
Last Name: If you want to see all the educators with a certain last name, you may enter the name, or the beginning letters of the name. This column is independent of other columns. A USOE user could enter Green and get all the educators by district and school whose last name begins with the letters Green. A district user would get all the educators in his/her district whose last name begins with the letters Green.
First Name: This column works the same way as last name. If you enter Smith in the last name, you could enter A in first name to limit your search to only those Smiths whose first name begins with A.
SSN: To find a specific educator, you could enter the social security number and leave all the other columns blank. To find multiple educators, enter a new social security number on each line and press Enter.
Cactus Person ID: Functions the same way as the social security number.
Endorsement Received Date: You might use this column to find all the educators who have received an endorsement this year by entering >07/01/2000.
Endorsement: Click on the cell to open the list of endorsements from which you may select. You can type the first letter, or very quickly type 2-3 letters then click on the arrow to open the list at the selected place in the alphabet.
Area of Concentration: If you want to see all the educators who hold a certain endorsement and only under one license area, you would select the license area here.
Select an educator: Once you have entered criteria and a list of educators is returned you can select one or more to view in detail. One educator may be selected at a time by double clicking anywhere on the row of the desired educator or by clicking in the desired row and pressing ENTER. If you want to see the detail for multiple rows you can choose a continuous range of rows or you can pick and choose any number of rows as a set. To select a range of rows click on the first row you want included. Then while holding down the SHIFT key click on subsequent rows in order or go directly to the last row to be included and click on it. The first and last row as well as all those in between will be selected (highlighted). If you do not want to choose a continuous range of rows you can include random rows in the set you select by holding the CTRL key while clicking on the desired rows. See the Educator Window help for using the VCR buttons to move through multiple educators without returning to the search grid.
This search will only show you educators who are currently assigned to a school or USOE and hold the area of concentration criteria you enter.
To use this search, click on the Area of Concentration radio button at the bottom of your screen. If you do not have that button, go to your display settings on your computer, and change to small fonts, and resolution 1024x768.
The search criteria works the same as the Endorsement search, described in detail above. This search includes social security number, which we have not shown here.
