Board Code of Conduct

Board Members Shall:

  • Represent the Board with dignity, honesty and integrity.
  • Attend meetings regularly - prepared, professional, engaged, and dedicated to accomplishing and adhering to the agenda.
  • Support efforts to focus on the important matters, remembering that the student is always our most important matter.
  • Communicate effectively, early, and often with each other and with others concerned, seeking to make your own ideas clear while respecting the different opinions of others.
  • Be loyal to the Board and work to achieve unity by supporting its decisions, even though you may personally espouse a different view.
  • Value civility and avoid contention, realizing conflict on some issues is inherent and not undesirable.
  • Represent and seek to understand the needs of all students and citizens in the state - as well as local interests - without partisanship.
  • Work effectively with the Superintendent, and through him/her, with the staff of USOE.
  • Develop and improve Board skills by establishing goals, measuring progress, and participating in a variety of training opportunities.

Board Room Rules

  1. Tables in the South Board Room are not to be moved. Cables for the sound system are hooked up and are not to be taken apart.
  2. The sound system, video, and other AV needs are to be coordinated with Jerry Record at (801) 538-7642. No one is to use this equipment without the assistance of Jerry Record or his designee.
  3. When food is served in the Board rooms the person who has scheduled the room is responsible for its removal immediately following the meeting. This also includes cleaning up food that has been spilled on the floor and on the tables. If the caterer does not come immediately to pick the food up, you are responsible for removing it to a kitchen area for the caterer to pick up. You also need to notify the caterer where you have taken their equipment. The storage room off the North Board Room is not to be used as a holding area.
  4. If meetings are held after the custodians leave or on the weekend, you are responsible for removing food-related trash and taking it out of the building to the dumpster.
