Critical Workplace Skills (11-12)
A growing number of young people leave school without the knowledge or foundation required to find and hold a good job. This course emphasizes skills needed to successfully prepare young people for the work environment and shows relevance of academic classes to future career and educational goals. With a foundation based on the SCANS Skills, the course covers: the job application process, legal and safety issues, ethics, goal setting, teamwork, conflict resolution, attitude, etc. Critical Workplace Skills is the classroom instruction component a student's related work-based learning experience, i.e. student internship.

32.9901 Exploratory Work-based Learning (9-12)
Exploratory work-based learning offers students the opportunity to explore a variety of occupations through various work-based learning activities that are not necessarily related to a career goal or course of study. These experiences are designed to assist students in the identification of career goals - likes and dislikes. Activities are conducted at the worksite or at the school with the aid of community partners. Examples of exploratory work-based learning activities include: job shadowing, career fairs, guest speakers and field studies.
32.9902 Related Work-based Learning (11-12)
Related work-based learning provides on the job training opportunities that are directly related to a career goal and course of study identified through the SEOP. This work-based learning experience is designed to bridge the gap between school and work. Appropriate supervision by a school/district coordinator must be maintained. Examples of related work-based learning include student internship, cooperative work experience and school-based enterprise.
32.9903 Career Apprenticeship Starts Here - Apprenticeship (11-12)
An apprenticeship is a formal system of training supervised by high school personnel while the student is in high school. Apprenticeships involve two required components: on the job training and related classroom instruction. On the job training is given under the supervision of the employer whose role it is to provide structured formalized training as defined in a training plan. While, classroom instruction occurs at the high school, applied technology college, etc. Apprentices earn a wage while they learn a career. The apprenticeship must be registered with the Department of Labor - Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training. Placement into an apprenticeship program is based on the student's SEOP.
49.0401 Basic Apprenticeship Related (9-12)
This course was designed to provide information and exploration of career options available through an apprenticeship. Upon completion, an apprenticeship or related work-based learning experiences should be pursued.
