CTE Introduction Work-based Learning Experiences   WBL Logo

Why Work-based Learning with CTE Introduction?

Six work-based learning days are set aside during the CTE Introduction year to provide career awareness and exploration experiences that support and sustain classroom instruction and curriculum. These work-based learning experiences are not intended to be an add-on. Work-based learning should reflect a variety of career fields for students to explore their own interests and apply their self-discovery to the world of work. Work-based learning is a teaching strategy that enhances classroom learning.

These WBL experiences can be spent in the following four areas:

Career Fairs
 Field Studies

Guest Speakers

Job Shadows

The CTE Introduction Work-based Learning Toolkit was designed by CTE Introduction teachers, counselors, and work-based learning coordinators.  It contains the how to's for implementing six work-based learning days into the CTE Introduction classroom.
